How to Plan a Month of Social Media Content in One Afternoon
A repeatable process for turning goals into a full monthly calendar, so posting stops being a daily scramble.

Deciding what to post every morning is exhausting, and it shows in the content. A monthly plan fixes that. Here's the process we use to build content calendars for clients, simplified so you can do it in a few focused hours.
1. Pick this month's goals
What does the business need this month? A product launch, more enquiries for a service, festive sales, or simply staying visible? Choose one or two goals. Every post should support at least one.
2. Set three to five content pillars
Pillars are the recurring themes your brand talks about. For example, a jewellery brand might use: product highlights, styling tips, behind the scenes, customer stories and offers. Rotating pillars keeps the feed varied and stops it becoming one long advert. Pillars come from your content strategy.
3. Mark the key dates
Add launches, festivals, sales, events and anything seasonal to the calendar first. These posts need the most preparation, and seasonal campaigns work best when planned weeks ahead.
4. Fill the calendar
- Decide how often you'll post on each platform, at a pace you can keep up.
- Assign a pillar and format to each slot: post, carousel, reel or story.
- Write a one-line idea for each slot.
- Draft captions in the same sheet, so everything can be reviewed together.
5. Batch-create the content
Shoot photos and videos in one or two sessions, design posts together, and write captions in one sitting. Batching saves hours compared with creating each post on the day. Our reels and post design teams work this way for every client.
6. Review and schedule
Get approvals before the month starts, then schedule posts using Meta Business Suite or your preferred tool. At the end of the month, look at what performed best and use it to shape the next plan.
